The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is the world’s leading association of travel professionals, advocating for travel agencies, the travel industry, and the traveling public. ASTA promotes ethical, traveler-friendly practices and policies, and all members adhere to a shared code of ethics.

To strengthen travel advisors’ knowledge of accessibility, ASTA partnered with Sage Inclusion to create a comprehensive training program. The project included a full accessibility training course, an accompanying course manual with key concepts, statistics, and visual examples, and a post-training exam to assess understanding.

The training equips travel advisors with practical skills and knowledge to better serve travelers with disabilities. It emphasizes inclusive travel principles, accessibility standards, and best practices, helping advisors provide more welcoming and inclusive experiences.

Through this collaboration, ASTA now has a scalable educational solution that supports its mission of making travel accessible for everyone while fostering greater awareness, empathy, and industry alignment with global accessibility standards.

Impact & Project Results:

A comprehensive accessibility training course specifically designed for travel advisors, ensuring practical relevance and ease of implementation was created.

A detailed course manual was produced, providing advisors with a lasting reference that includes key concepts, statistics, and visual examples.

A post-training exam was implemented to measure comprehension and support certification of trained advisors.

The collaboration strengthened ASTA’s leadership in accessibility and empowered its members to deliver more inclusive travel experiences.
