Impact-Focused – Addresses all Three of the Pillars of Accessible Travel: facilities, customer service, and information.
Global – Built on the Sage Best Practices, integrating 5 national and 3 international accessibility standards
Trusted – Backed by John Sage, one of the most trusted names in accessible travel, and his company’s 200,000 hours of accessible trip planning experience.
Certification of Locations
Travel businesses that meet the certification criteria are awarded the “Sage Certified” Badge, which can be used to communicate their commitment to accessibility and attract tourists, business travelers, and the MICE sector. The badge serves as a recognized indicator that the facility has undergone a structured accessibility evaluation and meets the requirements established by the certification program.
Eligible locations include hotels, attractions, restaurants, ground transportation providers, convention centers, visitor centers, guided tour itineraries, and cruise ships, allowing a wide range of tourism and hospitality services to demonstrate their accessibility to travelers.
Certification of Destinations
Destinations that include a sufficient number of accessibility-certified businesses will receive the “Sage Certified” destination badge. This recognition can be used in customer-facing promotional materials and digital media to communicate the destination’s commitment to accessible travel.
The badge indicates that multiple tourism services within the destination, including accommodations, attractions, transportation providers, and visitor services, have been evaluated for accessibility. It helps travelers identify destinations that are actively working to provide more inclusive and accessible travel experiences.
Certification of Events
Meetings and events that meet the certification criteria will receive the “Sage Certified” badge, which can be used in customer-facing promotional materials and digital media. The certification demonstrates that accessibility has been evaluated as part of the event planning process and that key features supporting inclusive participation have been considered.
